The Counselling Team - Stephanie
Stephanie
Canadian Certified Counsellor
I value the power of connection, compassion, and the innate wisdom we all carry within ourselves. As a deep feeler and a curious observer, I’ve come to appreciate that healing is a unique, deeply personal journey. In my work as a counsellor, I honour the messiness and complexity of each person’s story, approaching it with warmth, authenticity, and patience.
In our work together, my goal is to walk alongside you as you process emotions, navigate anxiety and stress, and heal from trauma. I’ll help guide you toward a more authentic and balanced version of yourself, using tools like mindfulness, attachment theory, and neurobiology to support you. Healing doesn’t need to be rushed; it's about honouring your pace, embracing the challenges, and making lasting changes that resonate with who you are.
I’m passionate about fostering deep self-awareness and empowering clients to acknowledge and honour their own strengths. Whether through psychodynamic therapy, CBT, or self-compassion practices, I create a safe space where we can explore the complexities of your experiences with care and curiosity. My approach is person-centred and holistic, rooted in both my formal training and knowledge of how the nervous system guides the healing process.

Training and Education
I hold an undergraduate honours degree in Inclusive and Therapeutic Recreation from Brock University, a Bachelor of Education from York University, and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (#11246903) and have pursued further training in Mindfulness, EMDR, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to continue refining my skills. My experience in private practice allows me to connect with clients on a personal level, providing individualized therapy that empowers growth and change.
With nine years of experience as an educator, I have developed effective strategies for supporting emotional regulation, enhancing learning, and fostering social development. I have worked with students affected by neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. My focus on mental health within the educational space has provided me with valuable insights that I now bring to my therapeutic work, helping children and families navigate developmental challenges.

My History
I come from a small town in Ontario, where I learned to value the deep bonds of family, community, and connection. Unexpectedly, my teaching career took me to Alberta, where I lived in High River, Calgary, and eventually Edmonton. I now call Edmonton home, and I continue to appreciate how these experiences have taught me the power of being present and leaning into life’s journey, which deeply informs how I approach my work with clients.
In addition to my professional work, I believe in living a well-balanced life that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit. I love all things self-care! Yoga is my daily meditation practice, and I also enjoy boxing, reading, experimenting with nourishing recipes, and sipping fresh coffee. Hiking, walking, and connecting with nature keep me grounded, and I find joy in life’s little moments, whether it’s watching a sunrise or the thrill of wake surfing. Travelling brings me joy, as it opens my eyes to the richness of different cultures, reveals the incredible beauty our world offers, and allows me to create new memories.
